McDonald's ignites innovation: New office, global capability centre set for Hyderabad

The Indian business partner of McDonalds has established 38 outlets in Telangana while planning to extend the network by adding 3-4 new restaurants annually including locations in tier two and three towns.

Indian capital Hyderabad welcomes American multinational fast food chain McDonald's which has established both its Indian headquarters and Global Capability Centre inside the city area. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Chris Kempczinski made the announcement following his meeting with Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. The planned establishment of India's global office expects to start with 2,000 employees at its beginning.

Infrastructure and appealing lifestyle

The government announced Telangana had secured the significant deal following a challenging competition with other states. Revanth Reddy as chief minister took personal responsibility for finding all favorable terms for the multinational to achieve a positive result. Kempczinski determined Hyderabad as the most suitable location above Bangalore following its outstanding talent base and robust infrastructure and appealing lifestyle.

Global Capability Centre

Through this collaboration McDonald’s will establish itself in the Global Capability Centre (GCC). As a skilling zone Telangana will provide McDonald’s India and its overseas locations with comprehensive human resource training facilities. The Chief Minister emphasized to the delegation that state government's exceptional skill development programs since the last 15 months and invited McDonald's to train their staff from Young India Skills University for both domestic restaurant operations and international offices throughout the country.

Skye Anderson as President Global Business Services 

Through this offer he aimed to supply McDonald's entire farming requirements from local farmers enabling both agricultural sector growth and increased farmer revenue. The McDonalds team leader briefed about global community development programs and promised to expand them in Telangana through joint government collaboration. Kempczinski accompanied Skye Anderson as President Global Business Services with Jon Banner as Chief Global Impact officer and Deshant Kaila as Head, GBS India. Independent of its Indian business partner McDonald’s aims to open three to four new locations yearly across Telangana including towns situated in levels two and three.
