US President Joe Biden appoints two Indian-Americans to his powerful Export Council. the export council is the premier national advisory committee on international trade. According to a White House press release, the president Biden announced a list of members he intends to appoint to the council.

Punit Renjen, the former CEO of Deloitte Consulting and Rajesh Subramaniam, CEO and president-elect of FedEx, have their names on the list of members the president intends to appoint as members of the influential President’s Export Council.

The council will be headed by the chairman of Kastle Systems, Mark Edin. The President’s Export Council now includes more than two dozen business, labour, real estate, national security, and legal professionals.

Karen S. Lynch, president and CEO of CVS Health is Prominent among them. John Lawler, the chief financial officer of Ford; CEO at Proterra; Brett Hart, president of United Airlines; Gareth Joyce, Beth Ford, president and CEO of Land O’Lakes; and Qualcomm CEO Cristiano R. Amon.

“The Council advises the President on government policies and programmes that affect US trade performance; promotes export expansion; and provides a forum for discussing and resolving trade-related problems among the business, industrial, agricultural, labour and govt sectors.” said in a statement by White House.

Punit Renjen got retired in December last year from the post of CEO of Deloitte Global, after having served in the role since June 2015. He now serves as Deloitte Global CEO Emeritus. Under his Deloitte has launched WorldClass, with a global effort to prepare 100 million unprivillaged people for the world of opportunity.

Renjen has received recognition from many organisations over the course of his career for his leadership, business savvy, and dedication to societal impact.

Renjen received recognition as one of the 34 “Great Immigrants” by the Carnegie Corporation of America. amazing Americans.”

With its Global Achievement Award in 2021, the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum honoured Renjen. He received the Oregon History Makers Medal in 2020.

Other one on the list is Raj Subramaniam, he has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of FedEx Corporation, and is responsible for providing strategic direction for all FedEx operating companies.

Subramaniam also among the five members Executive Committee, which plans and execute the strategic business activities. He also serves in FedEx Strategic Management Committee.

Before being named as a president and CEO in March 2022, he was president and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of FedEx corporation. Previously, he held various leadership roles in operations and marketing across the FedEx portfolio of operating companies.

All About Punit Renjen’s career

Punit Renjen holds the position of CEO of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited (Deloitte Global). Following an election and nearly unanimous ratification by hundreds of Deloitte partners, the announced announced his confirmation on February 16, 2015. On June 1, 2015, Renjen began his four-year term as CEO, making history as the first individual born in Asia to lead one of the Big Four multinational professional services companies. He was chosen to serve a second, four-year term as Deloitte Global CEO in June 2019. During that time, Deloitte announced that their fiscal year numbers for 2021 reached 50.2 billion dollar and their workforce expanded to 345,000, making them the first big 4 firm to clear 50 billion dollar in global revenue.

Raj Subramaniam started his career as an associate marketing analyst in FedEx in 1991. He quickly rose through the ranks and held several management and marketing roles in Asia and the US. He served as the Vice-President of Marketing at FedEx Express in the Asia-Pacific region since the beginning of 1996, and was then appointed as the regional president of Canada in 2003. He also served as the Executive VP, marketing and communication from 2013 to 2019.

Later on in 2018, he was promoted to the CEO of FedEx’s legacy Express business. After retirement of David J. Bronczek in 2019, Subramaniam was named the COO and joined the FedEx board in January 2020.
