Business News. Indian Railways has made a big change to make the journey of passengers smooth and safe. From May 1, strict rules will be implemented, under which waiting list ticket holders will no longer be allowed to travel in sleeper or AC coaches. Such passengers will be able to travel only in general class. The purpose of this decision is to save confirmed ticket holders from any inconvenience during the journey.

Till now, waiting tickets on online booking (IRCTC) were automatically cancelled, but passengers often travel in sleeper and AC coaches with waiting tickets bought from the counter. Now strictness has been brought in this system so that the travel system can be improved further.

New rules for waiting ticket passengers

According to the rules coming into effect from May 1, waiting ticket holders will not be allowed to travel in sleeper or AC coaches. If a passenger is found occupying a seat in these coaches with a waiting ticket, the Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) will have the right to either fine the passenger or send him to a general class coach. Chief Public Relations Officer of North Western Railway, Captain Shashi Kiran said that this rule has been implemented so that confirmed ticket holders do not face any inconvenience during the journey. He also said that many times passengers with waiting tickets forcibly occupy seats in sleeper and AC coaches, causing trouble to confirmed passengers and making the journey inconvenient.

Those with waiting tickets will now need to be extra careful

Now if you are planning to travel with a waiting ticket, then you will have to be extra cautious. Traveling in sleeper or AC coach without a confirmed ticket can be costly, so in future it will be very important to get your ticket confirmed before traveling. Otherwise you may have to pay a fine or travel in general class. This new rule has been implemented keeping in mind the convenience and safety of passengers. Now travelling in sleeper or AC coach with a waiting ticket will not only be difficult, but there will also be a risk of fine. Therefore, getting the ticket confirmed before travelling has become more important than before.
