According to a new report, the Indian car market touched new heights of sales in April 2023. The continuing launch of new and updated car models, as well as prevailing pent-up demand from Covid 19 lockdown, is pushing more and more people towards driving home in new cars.According to information provided by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), there were around 3.31 lakh passenger vehicle sales in April. Higher than the 2.93 lakh units produced in the same month in 2022. This amount is significantly higher than the sales figures for April before the launch of Covid in 2018, which saw a total of 2.98 lakh units sold. Most consumers are still interested in utility cars, and most manufacturers are happy to provide them. Many manufacturers have updated their separate product portfolios in response to consumers growing preferences for SUVs or at least vehicles with SUV-style cues. In their respective segments, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 700, and Kia Sonet are performing better than ever.Noteworthy, the record shows that the sales figure for April has been able to transit to BS6 phase 2 emission norms smoothly. Reportedly, the new norms came into effect from April 1, 2023.On the other hand, the sale of two-wheelers in the passenger vehicle section has also seen a jump. The sales of two-wheelers rose from 11.62 lakhs in April of 2022 to 13.38 lakh last month.
