The United States has emerged as the country with largest gold reserves in the world, as estimated by the World Gold Council (WGC). According to the list released by the WGC, India is placed at the ninth spot and is ahead of Saudi Arabia and UK. Here is a list of top 10 countries with most gold reserves. 

United States

The United States has an impressive 8,133.5 metric tons of gold in its reserves. This makes it the country with the largest gold reserves in the world.

Germany

Germany possesses 3,355 metric tons of gold in its reserves. This makes it the second-largest gold-holding country in the world, trailing only the United States with its massive 8,133.5 metric tons.

Italy

Italy boasts 2,452 metric tons of gold in its reserves. This puts it firmly in the third-place position among countries with the largest gold reserves, right behind Germany and the United States.

France 

France holds a robust 2,436.88 metric tons of gold in its reserves. This places it comfortably in fourth place among the world's countries with the largest gold reserves, following closely behind Italy's 2,452 metric tons.

Russia

Russia currently holds 2,332.74 metric tons of gold in its reserves as of October 2023. This represents the fifth largest gold reserve in the world, trailing behind the previously mentioned countries.

China

China currently holds 2,191.53 metric tons of gold in its reserves. This makes it as the sixth largest gold reserve in the world. 

Switzerland

Switzerland holds 1.040.00 metric tons of gold in its reserves. This makes it as the seventh largest gold reserve in the world. 

Japan 

Japan holds a a robust 845.97 metric tons of gold in its reserves. This puts it firmly in the eigth position among countries with the largest gold reserves. 

India

India holds a robust 800.78 metric tons of gold in its reserves. This makes it at the ninth position among countries with the largest gold reserves. 

Netherlands

The Netherlands holds a respectable 612 metric tons of gold in its reserves. This places them comfortably at 10th place among the world's countries with the largest gold reserves.
