Delhi Police on Thursday night stopped ex-BharatPe co-founder Ashneer Grover and his wife Madhuri Jain for boarding the flight for New York. According to the sources, the couple were stopped at Terminal-3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport as a look out notice was issued by the economic offence wing (EOW).Sindhu Pillai, joint commissioner of police (EOW), said that the couple was travelling to New York and were stopped before security check. She further added that the couple were asked to return to their residence and join the probe at EoW office at Mandir Marg next week.After being stopped at the airport on Thursday night, Ashneer Grover on Friday took his X account and addressed the issue and claimed that he had not received any communication from EOW.He wrote, “Hello ! Hello ! Kya chal raha hai India mein Filhaal to Ashneer stopped at airport chal raha hai janab.” He also mentioned the facts in the tweet:“So facts:1. I had not received any communication or summon from EOW since FIR in May till 8 AM today 17 morning (7 hours after returning from airport).2. I was going to US from 16-23 November3. At immigration they said LoC laga hua hai sir - EOW se check kar ke batate hai4. I found it strange as have travelled 4 times internationally since FIR filed in May - never been a problem and I had not even been summoned once5. Flight left in meantime anyways - EOW folks directed Immigration to let us out so that we can return home6. Today morning EOW summon was home delivered - will cooperate as alwaysNo drama. Ashneer Grovers wife Madhuri Jain Grover, as well as family members Deepak Gupta, Suresh Jain, and Shwetank Jain, were named in the FIR that BharatPe filed.
