Budget 2024: In a traditional ceremony held at North Block, the Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, participated in the annual Halwa ceremony, signifying the final stage of preparations for the Interim Union Budget 2024. This customary event, attended by Union Minister of State for Finance Dr Bhagwat Kisanrao Karad, marks the initiation of the "lock-in" process, with the budget set to be presented in a paperless format on February 1.

Halwa Ceremony Tradition

The Halwa ceremony, a significant ritual before the commencement of the budget "lock-in" process, was conducted at North Block. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, along with Union Minister of State for Finance Dr Bhagwat Kisanrao Karad, participated in the age-old tradition that symbolizes the finalization of budget preparations.

Paperless Interim Union Budget 2024

Continuing the trend set by the previous three full Union Budgets, the Interim Union Budget 2024 will be presented in a paperless format. This modern approach aligns with digital initiatives, streamlining accessibility and contributing to environmental sustainability. The presentation is scheduled for February 1, considering the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in April-May.

Mobile App for Hassle-Free Access

All Union Budget documents, including the Annual Financial Statement, Demand for Grants, and the Finance Bill, will be accessible through the "Union Budget Mobile App." The app, available in English and Hindi, can be downloaded on Android and iOS platforms, as well as from the Union Budget Web Portal (www.indiabudget.gov.in). The release highlights the convenience of digital access for Members of Parliament (MPs) and the public.

Budget Documents Availability

Post the Union Finance Minister's Budget Speech on February 1, 2024, the budget documents will be accessible on the Mobile App. This user-friendly approach ensures seamless access for MPs and the general public, promoting a transparent and straightforward understanding of the budgetary allocations.

Budget Session Details

The budget session of Parliament is scheduled to commence on January 31 and conclude on February 9. This session holds significance as it precedes the Lok Sabha elections, making it the last parliamentary session before the electoral process.

The Halwa ceremony not only signifies the culmination of the budget preparation process but also highlights the government's commitment to digital transparency. With the Interim Union Budget 2024 embracing a paperless format, coupled with accessible mobile applications, the administration aims to enhance public engagement and understanding of the budgetary allocations.
