Go Airlines India Limited which is also known as ‘Go First’ plans to raise the salaries of captains by Rs 1 lakh per month, and Rs 50,000 for the first-class officers. The decision has been taken by the airlines, keeping the retention of the employees in mind.

Notably, the airline tries to salvage its operations after filing for insolvency on May 2. The additional pay, which the company calls the retention allowance will come into effect from June 1.

Reports say that Go’s captains currently earn about Rs 5,30,000 a month on average, as compared to Rs 7,50,000 at SpiceJet Ltd., which has increased wages twice in recent months.

According to the sources, the amount has been offered to the employees who left the airlines but are willing to withdraw their resignation by June 15. Apart from this company is also planning the bonus for the employees who are with them for a very long time.

The airline has been given 30 days by India’s aviation authority last week to submit a resurrection plan that included information on its pilot roster.

Global staff shortages in aviation are a problem as the pandemic is ending. In fiscal 2024, IndiGo, the largest airline in India, plans to hire 5,000 people, while Air India Ltd. expects to hire more than 4,200 cabin personnel and 900 pilots this year.
