The Indian Express published a list of the 100 Most Powerful Indians of 2023. Politicians and business magnates who wield significant power in the country were undoubtedly included on the list. However, this time, more people from the film industry made it into the top 100.

“The Most Powerful” Film Personalities

RRR movie director SS Rajamouli has been named one of the 100 Most Powerful Indians in 2023. Rajamouli is number 95 on the list. After the song Naatu Naatu from his recent movie won an Oscar, the Telugu filmmaker became an international phenomenon. The Telugu public already understands how powerful Rajamouli is, and it is not an overstatement to claim that he will be rising even higher in the following years.

Apart from Rajamouli, Bollywood celebrities Shah Rukh Khan (rank 50), Amitabh Bachchan (rank 87), Deepika Padukone (rank 97), Alia Bhatt (rank 99), and Ranveer Singh (rank 100) made it to the list this year.

Women in cinema shines in “The Most Powerful Indians” list

With Pathaan’s roaring success, Deepika Padukone, who came in at number 97, also made a triumphant comeback to the big screen. She played the role of a Pakistani agent in the spy action flick, which received an excellent reception from film lovers and provided her with a much-needed mega-hit in the Hindi film industry.

Alia Bhatt reached Rank 99 in the list due to her back-to-back superhit movie releases and too often the presence in paparazzi media because of her marriage, child, and a Hollywood project. 2022 was a fantastic year for her, and this makes her one of the most popular and ‘powerful’ Indians.

Top spots in the list of “The Most Powerful Indians”

Elections in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh, two states that have shaped Indian politics for the last 30 years, defined who was the most powerful Indian last year as well. The BJP successfully retained both states, as the duo of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah exhibited no signs of slowing down or giving up their position at the top of the power list in India. Makes them No. 1 and No 2 of the most powerful Indians.

After the massive success of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, set out from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, trekking more than 4,000 km in five months, Rahul Gandhi made it to the No. 15 from the earlier No. 51.

Foreign Affairs Minister S Jaishankar rose to third place this time, a remarkable change. The Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, is ranked fourth, and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath is ranked fifth. Mohan Bhagwat, the leader of the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh), is ranked sixth. JP Nadda, the national president of the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party), is ranked eighth, followed by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Mukesh Ambani, the wealthiest Indian, is ninth, and Ajit Doval, the National Security Advisor (NSA), is tenth.
