American business magnet and co-founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed the innovative work in the field of health, climate change, and other crucial areas, during the meet. Gates, while talking about the G20 presidency, noted that it was an opportunity to highlight how innovations developed in India can benefit the world and help the people across the world. In an official bog by Bill Gates, he mentioned that he has been in talks with Prime Minister during the Covid pandemic for developing vaccines and investing in India’s health system.

While addressing the blog, Gates said that India excels in both creating and distributing the life saving doses. India has distributed over 2.2 billion doses to people, which were proved life-saving.

In the blog he also said, “India has an amazing ability to manufacture lots of safe, effective, and affordable vaccines, some of them supported by the Gates Foundation. Vaccines produced in India have saved millions of lives during the pandemic and prevented other diseases around the world. They developed Co-WIN, an open-source platform that provided digital certifications for those who have received vaccinations while enabling the scheduling of billions of vaccine appointments.”

He also praised the work done by India in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Further adding into the blog “while the world had been grappling with the pandemic’, Gates said the country was able to send emergency digital payments to 300 million people, including 200 million women. This was only feasible because India prioritised financial inclusion, spending money on a biometric ID system (named Aadhaar), and developing cutting-edge digital banking platforms.”

Gates also lauded the country’s Gati Shakti programme which is a great example of how digital technology can help governments work better. With the help of roads and rails it has connected over 16 ministries, so they can work together to plain for their infrastruscture projects and execute the work on Indian scientists and engineers.

The initiative to promote the literacy for all across the country was also lauded by him. While taking about the Mission Innovation, a programme that was started in 2015 aims to expedite the development of the renewable energy technologies. He also added that during his visit to Agricultural Research in Pusa, he learnt about the efforts made to help farmers, including the plantation of new varieties of wheat and chickpeas that can help people to save the crops from droughts.

He highlighted the India is making continuous progress in the field of health, development, climate and showing the possibilities when we invest in innovation. He commended Prime Minister Modi for India’s efforts in eliminating diseases like Tuberculosis, Visceral Leishmaniasis and Lymphatic Filariasis, in the country.

Bill Gates tried his hands on comfort food

Bill Gates, visited India as it was host of G20 presidency. During his visit, he also tried his hands on India’s comfort food- ‘Khichdi’ which is also very nutritious and he was accompanied by Union Minister Smriti Irani.

Foreign Ministers and delegates from several countries visited India during the G20 meet. The meeting was held in New Delhi on March 1-2, in which delegations from Saudi Arabia, China, Indonesia, Spain, Croatia took participation. The Director General of World Trade Organisation also arrived for the meet.
