Puneet Chandok, the India and South Asia head of Amazon Inc’s cloud division has resigned. The resignation will come into effect from August 31, of this year. The command of Amazon Web Services was handed over to Chandok in June 2019.

Vaishali Kasture, the head of the enterprise for mid-market and global businesses at AWS India and South Asia, will take over as the interim lead of the commercial business for the unit, as per sources.

The news came after two weeks when Amazon’s cloud computing unit revealed plans to make an investment of Rs 1.06 trillion (USD 12.87 billion) in India in 2030, which will double the investments that will cater to the growing demand for such services.
