Air India is all set to welcome over 500 crew members in the upcoming months and the airline will be rolling out the new crew rostering project soon, said Air India’s chief Campbell Wilson.

The crew rostering project is about to start rolling out in earnest, Wilson said in his weekly message to his employees.

The airline’s chief said, “As the system settles in, the crew should see earlier roster publication, more stable rosters, better integrity of ‘golden offs’ and better standby provisioning to reduce last-minute call-ups.”

“Also, when averaged over a few months, there will also be more equitable earnings,” he said.

Air India’s recent deals

Air India has embarked on an ambitious transformation plan under the ownership of the Tata Group.

In May, the airline announced a monumental order of 470 aircraft with Boeing and Airbus, Moreover, Air India also plans to hire over 4,200 cabin crew trainees and 900 pilots this year, as it envisions rapid expansion in domestic and international operations

That’s not it, it had unveiled a new compensation structure for pilots and cabin crew. Both categories will receive a guaranteed flying allowance of 40 hours per month. The airline had also revamped the contracts.

500 crew members to join the airline

“Additionally, with more than 500 new crew being released into service in each of the coming months, we will be able to reinstate full crew complements and accelerate training,” Wilson said.

Further, the airline chief added that the project will be a complete transformation of the way the airline rosters its crew and brings aboard the very latest technology and capabilities available in the market.

The CEO of Air India, Wilson has also emphasised the incorporation of cutting-edge technology and capabilities in the system, highlighting its significant investment and the multitude of benefits it brings.
