Danapur: In a gruesome incident that has sent shockwaves through Bihar's Gopalganj district, a priest, identified as Manoj Kumar, was found dead after being missing for six days. The discovery of his lifeless body, with his eyes gouged out and genitals cut off, has ignited clashes between locals and the police, leaving two officers injured.
Manoj Kumar, a revered priest at a Shiva temple in Danapur village, mysteriously disappeared six days ago, triggering concerns among locals. The shocking turn of events unfolded when his lifeless body was discovered in the village bushes, bearing the horrifying signs of brutal violence – eyes gouged out and genitals mutilated.
The victim's family, including his brother Ashok Kumar Shah, a former divisional president of the BJP, expressed disbelief at the tragic turn of events. Suresh Shah, another brother of Manoj Kumar, revealed the family's initial assumption that the priest would return home soon. However the priest was never meant to return as he met a harrowing fate which left the family grappling with shock and grief.
Upon learning of the news, locals accused the police of negligence, intensifying the already charged atmosphere. Clashes ensued, with enraged locals pelting stones at police personnel and setting a police vehicle ablaze along the highway.
To control the escalating situation, the police resorted to firing in the air, prompting Gopalganj Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Pranjal to intervene. He later reassured the agitated locals, asserting that the situation was under control.
The police, initially unable to locate Manoj Kumar, intensified their efforts when the news of his brutal demise surfaced. The discovery of the body has raised questions about the effectiveness of the ongoing investigation and has added a layer of mystery to the tragic incident.
SDPO Pranjal, assuring that the situation was now under control, mentioned the deployment of additional police forces. He confirmed that an FIR would be filed, initiating a legal process to uncover the truth behind this brutal act.
Suresh Shah expressed bewilderment, stating that the family was initially assured of a prompt investigation by district administration officials. However, the delay in finding Manoj Kumar's body has left the family grappling with unanswered questions regarding the motives behind the heinous murder.
The highway, previously disrupted by clashes, has been cleared, signifying a step towards restoring normalcy. As the investigation unfolds, the community seeks justice for the slain priest, hoping for swift and transparent legal proceedings.
