Tech giant Xiaomi steps into the automotive industry with a bang by revealing its latest innovation, the SU7 electric sedan. Priced competitively at approximately Rs 25 lakh, this move pits Xiaomi directly against Tesla, which is dominating the electric vehicle (EV) market.

During a livestream event, Xiaomi's CEO, Lei Jun, unveiled the SU7 sedan, drawing direct comparisons with Tesla's renowned Model 3. Jun's ambitious vision for Xiaomi in the automotive sector was palpable as he declared the company's intention to invest significantly in core technologies, aiming to establish Xiaomi among the top five global automakers within the next two decades.

The SU7 features impressive performance figures, with a claimed acceleration of 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 2.78 seconds and a maximum speed of 265 kilometers per hour. Equipped with dual motors generating 637 horsepower and 838 Newton meters of peak turbo, the SU7 promises a thrilling driving experience. Its advanced 800-volt architecture, akin to Tesla's Cybertruck, contributes to a commendable range of 700 to 900 kilometers, depending on the chosen trim level.

Impeccable design of Xiaomi SU7

In terms of design, the SU7 sedan exudes sophistication, measuring five meters in length, and two meters in width, with a wheelbase of three meters. Xiaomi emphasizes its sleek profile, achieving a drag coefficient of 0.195, unmatched in its class. Offering a diverse palette of nine color options, Xiaomi aims to cater to varying aesthetic preferences.

It has distinctive water-drop headlights, halo tail lights, an active rear spoiler, and a streamlined exterior. Internally, the SU7 boasts Xiaomi's proprietary Hyper OS, facilitating seamless integration with other Xiaomi devices. The vehicle offers a futuristic cockpit equipped with multiple screens, advanced driver assistance features, and a host of high-tech amenities.

Available in three variants, the SU7 lineup caters to different driving needs and budgets. The base model, featuring a 73.6 kWh battery offering 700 kilometers of range, starts at 215,900 Chinese Yuan. The SU7 Pro, equipped with a 94.3 kWh battery providing 830 kilometers of range, is priced at 245,900 Yuan. For enthusiasts seeking unparalleled range, the SU7 Max boasts a 101 kWh battery delivering nearly 900 kilometers, with a starting price of 299,900 Yuan.
