New Delhi: The electric vehicle landscape in the United Kingdom is undergoing a remarkable transformation, evident in the surge in electric vehicle sales and the introduction of innovative models. Tata Motors has emerged as a frontrunner, securing a staggering 73% market share in the four-wheeler electric vehicle segment. Today, the company is poised to reshape the electric future with the introduction of a cutting-edge technology, the Tata Acti.EV architecture.

Tata Motors expands electric portfolio with Tata Punch EV

As a testament to Tata Motors' commitment to electrification, the company kicks off the year by expanding its electric portfolio. The latest addition, Tata Punch EV, joins the ranks of electric offerings such as Nexon EV, Tigor EV, and Tiago EV. Official bookings for this SUV are now open, allowing customers to reserve their Tata PunchEV through the company's official website and authorised dealerships.

What is Tata's Acti.EV architecture?

Tata Motors, in an exclusive event, unveiled its revolutionary Acti.EV architecture that will underpin the company's upcoming fleet of electric vehicles. This state-of-the-art architecture promises a host of features, presented in distinct layers.

Layer 1: Powertrain

At the heart of the Acti.EV architecture lies a meticulously designed powertrain. The battery pack, optimised for enhanced energy density through cells meeting rigorous global standards, boasts a 10% improvement. This design allows for a versatile range of 300 km to 600 km on a single charge, offering different ranges based on vehicle specifications. Notably, the architecture supports All Wheel Drive (AWD), Real Wheel Drive (RWD), and Front Wheel Drive (FWD) systems.

The Acti.EV architecture supports AC fast charging with an on-board charger ranging from 7.2kW to 11kW and DC fast charging of up to 150kW. This translates to a rapid 10-minute charge providing a 100 km range.

Layer 2: Chassis

The chassis, constituting the second layer, provides adaptability for various body structures, allowing easy conversion into different body types. Compliant with Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP standards, vehicles based on this architecture are anticipated to secure a 5-star safety rating. The flat floor design enhances cabin spaciousness, while the lower centre of gravity contributes to improved driving mobility and handling.

Layer 3: Electrical Architecture

Acti.EV boasts a future-ready electrical architecture with advanced computing capabilities, enabling Level 2 Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) updates. It features a scalable architecture prepared for ADAS L2+ capabilities, ensuring high safety and navigation standards. With 5G connectivity, Vehicle to Load (V2L), and Vehicle to Vehicle Charging (V2V) technology, this architecture sets the stage for advanced electric mobility.

Layer 4: Cloud Architecture

Incorporating cloud-based technology, Tata Motors introduces a groundbreaking shift in the user driving experience. The Arcade.ev car app suite, operating on cloud architecture, facilitates over-the-air (OTA) updates and offers advanced features with seamless connectivity. This innovative approach promises to redefine how users interact with their electric vehicles, marking a new era in automotive technology.
