Top car launches in India this Week: eVitara, Vanquish | Here's everything you need to know

The Indian car industry experienced significant overhauls this week with Maruti Suzuki unveiling its maiden electric SUV, e Vitara, and Aston Martin rolling out the Vanquish Mark 3. Maruti and Hyundai, on the other hand, have announced price increases for all models from April 2025.

 The Indian car market is surrounded with big car launches. Maruti Suzuki has revealed the appearance of its maiden electric SUV, the e Vitara, whereas Aston Martin launched the Vanquish (Mark 3). Mercedes-Benz, too, augmented its high-end portfolio by rolling out the Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series. Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor India and Maruti Suzuki announced price increments in their whole automobile range amid escalating raw materials and operational expenditure costs. 

These are the major developments from the automotive sector this week 

 Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. The e Vitara, launching in India on 4 April, has a strong body. The electric SUV will be available in two battery options: a 49kWh pack delivering 144hp and a 61kWh pack delivering 174hp. Both models will have a maximum range of 500 kilometres on a single charge. Priced in the range of Rs 20-30 lakh, the e Vitara will take on the MG ZS EV and Tata Curvv EV in India. Aston Martin Vanquish (Mark 3)

The British luxury carmaker lwill aunch the Vanquish (Mark 3) in India on 22 March. The supercar comes with a 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine producing close to 835bhp and 1,000Nm of maximum torque. Assisted with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the Vanquish (Mark 3) has a 345 kilometre top speed and can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds. At approximately Rs 5.50 crore, the Vanquish (Mark 3) will make heads turn in the high-performance vehicle space.

Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram series

The Mercedes-Benz SL-based luxury roadster was unveiled globally last year. It is driven by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that churns out 585hp and 800Nm of torque. With a 9-speed automatic transmission, the SL 680 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds. Interior highlights include Nappa leather seats, a white dashboard, and a steering wheel with satin silver trim pieces.

Hyundai Motor India & Maruti Suzuki price hike

All Maruti Suzuki vehicles in India will witness a price hike of about 4 per cent from April 2025, depending on the model. Hyundai Motor India also declared a price hike of up to 3 per cent across segments. Both firms have attributed the price hike to the increasing cost of production.
