Maruti Suzuki eVX SUV: The upcoming Maruti Suzuki eVX SUV, the company's maiden venture into the world of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs), has been captured on Indian roads for the first time ahead of its anticipated launch.
This marks a significant step for the Japanese automaker, with the eVX being showcased at the Auto Expo 2023 and set to hit the Indian market in 2025.
The test mule, shrouded in black tape to conceal its contours, made its debut appearance in India. The discreet camouflage covered not only the body lines but also extended to the glass area of the rear tail lamps, keeping the design elements under wraps. Although the video reveals only a partial view of the headlamp design, it generates anticipation for Maruti's leap into the electric vehicle segment.
The eVX adopts a dedicated electric skateboard platform, strategically placing the wheels at the corners and integrating the floorboard with the batteries. This innovative layout enhances cabin space, providing a roomy and comfortable environment for occupants.
The Suzuki eVX concept, measuring 4,300 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and standing at a height of 1,600 mm, boasts a distinctive presence. Maruti Suzuki has previously hinted at a robust powertrain, featuring a 60 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. While the cell chemistry remains undisclosed, the company has projected an impressive 550 km range for the production model. Additionally, speculation suggests the possibility of an all-wheel-drive variant.
Suzuki showcased the eVX's interior at the Japan Mobility Show, hinting at a dual-screen setup that combines a fully digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen infotainment system into a cohesive freestanding unit. The cabin is expected to feature a flat-bottom sporty steering wheel, rotary dials, and touch panels, adding a touch of modernity to the driving experience.
As Maruti gears up for the electric era, the eVX stands as a testament to the brand's commitment to innovation and sustainable mobility.
