New Delhi: In a notable achievement, Skoda Auto India has surpassed the milestone of selling over 100,000 vehicles in the last two years, marking a significant triumph for the company. This success can be attributed to the popularity of the Kushaq and Slavia models, both built on the advanced MQB-A0-IN platform. The Indian market's growing affinity for Skoda's safest cars, crafted on this innovative platform, has undoubtedly contributed to this remarkable feat. Particularly noteworthy is the role played by the Slavia, propelling Skoda to achieve this milestone in just two years, a feat that took six years previously.
Skoda Auto has disclosed that it achieved sales of 48,755 units from January 1 to December 31 in the 2023 calendar year. While this figure represents a decrease from the 2022 sales of 53,721 units during the same period, the company attributes this slight decline to challenges in the supply chain and related issues. On a positive note, Skoda Auto has witnessed an extraordinary 100% increase in Kodiaq sales in 2023, marking its most significant surge to date.
Petr Janba, the Brand Director at Skoda Auto India, shared his insights on the sales performance. "Following the record-breaking sales in 2022, it was crucial for us to sustain our momentum in 2023. Our efforts this year are focused on consolidating and strengthening our market position, and we are pleased to end the last quarter of 2023 on a positive note."
Skoda Auto has significantly expanded its footprint, boasting approximately 260 touchpoints across the country by the end of 2023. This represents a substantial increase from the 125 customer touchpoints in 2021, underscoring the brand's commitment to enhancing its sales and service network. Additionally, the company commenced exports from India to Vietnam in 2023, marking a strategic move to explore new markets.
Looking ahead, Skoda Auto is gearing up for an exciting 2024 with plans for new launches. Anticipated to lead the charge is the Enyaq, poised to be the brand's first all-electric offering. Simultaneously, the company is actively developing a sub-compact SUV. Enthusiasts can also expect the introduction of the new generation Kodiaq from Skoda's global lineup, with limited numbers of the new generation Superb likely to follow suit. The global unveiling of the new-gen Octavia is scheduled for February this year, promising a year of innovation and progress for Skoda Auto.
As Skoda Auto continues to redefine its presence in the Indian market, the upcoming launches and the brand's commitment to excellence are sure to captivate the attention of automotive enthusiasts and consumers alike.
