New Delhi: Hyundai Motor India has closed the chapter on 2023 with a resounding success, achieving a milestone that cements its position as a powerhouse in the Indian automotive landscape. With a stellar performance, the automaker proudly announces the sale of over 6 lakh units in the domestic market, marking a historic achievement in its journey since entering India in 1996.

A remarkable 9 per cent growth

In the calendar year 2023, Hyundai Motor India recorded a remarkable feat by selling 6.02 lakh units domestically, reflecting a notable surge of 9% compared to the 5.52 lakh units sold in the corresponding period of 2022. This impressive growth is a testament to Hyundai's unwavering commitment to delivering excellence and innovation in every vehicle it offers.

Product lineup triumphs: Verna, Exeter and more

Hyundai's success in 2023 can be attributed to the strong performance of its diverse lineup. The year witnessed the launch of the updated Verna sedan and the introduction of the all-new sub-compact SUV, Exeter. These additions, alongside comprehensive updates across the entire fleet, have positioned Hyundai as a frontrunner in a competitive market.

The upcoming launch of the revamped Creta mid-size SUV on January 16 promises to further elevate Hyundai's standing, with anticipated enhancements in exterior design and cabin features. The Creta, a consistent segment leader, continues to be a customer favorite, even amidst challenges from new entrants like the Raval.

Exports surge

Hyundai's success extends beyond the domestic market, with exports reaching 1.63 lakh units in 2023, a notable increase from the 1.48 lakh units in 2022. The month of December alone witnessed 42,750 units sold in the domestic market, complemented by an additional 13,700 units exported, underscoring Hyundai's global appeal.

Strategic vision

Tarun Garg, the Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai Motor India Limited, expressed pride in surpassing industry growth estimates, indicating a growth rate of around 8.2%. He highlighted how Hyundai has become the preferred mobility brand for customers, a choice reinforced by consistently surpassing expectations. Garg affirmed Hyundai's commitment to meeting growing customer demands by actively expanding annual production capacity by an additional 50,000 units in 2023.

As Hyundai Motor India looks back on 2023, it is not merely a year in retrospect but a chapter of triumphs, growth, and unwavering commitment to excellence. With eyes set on the future, Hyundai continues to drive innovation and redefine standards in the Indian automotive sector. The road ahead is undoubtedly paved with success for this automotive stalwart.
