The Porsche 911 has long been admired for blending daily driving comfort with supercar performance. It’s a practical car that can turn fierce when needed. Now, Porsche has globally unveiled the 2025 Porsche 911 facelift, but the updates are limited to the Carrera and GTS trims. Let’s dive into the changes, especially the introduction of hybrid technology.

The standout feature of the 2025 Porsche 911 GTS is its hybrid powertrain. This model has a 3.6L turbocharged 6-cylinder boxer engine combined with an electric motor. The electric motor is integrated into the 8-speed PDK transmission, which adds an extra 15 horsepower and 150 Nm of torque. This brings the total output to 541 horsepower and 610 Nm of torque, making the GTS not only more powerful but also quicker than its predecessor.

The new hybrid setup includes a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack. This addition boosts the car’s performance, allowing it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3 seconds, with a top speed of 312 km/h. This makes the new 911 GTS faster and more agile, as evidenced by its impressive Nurburgring lap time of 7 minutes and 17 seconds, shaving off 8.7 seconds from the previous model’s record. However, the hybrid system adds 50 kilos to the car’s weight due to the 400V battery pack.

Upgraded Carrera engine

The 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera also sees notable engine upgrades. It now features a newly designed 3.0L boxer engine with twin turbochargers and a new intercooler borrowed from the 911 Turbo. These enhancements increase the power output to 394 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, offering a more robust driving experience.

For better handling and performance, the GTS trim comes standard with rear-wheel steering and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) sport suspension, which lowers the car by 10 mm compared to the Carrera. The GTS also features wider tires and drag-reducing wheels, while the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control remains an optional add-on.

Fresh exterior and interior designs

Porsche has given the 2025 911 a fresh look with updated exterior features. The car now sports new LED Matrix headlamps and a redesigned bumper. The GTS model specifically gets larger active aero flaps on the front bumper. At the rear, the updated 911 boasts a connected tail lamp cluster and a variable spoiler, with the GTS trim featuring a sport exhaust system for a more aggressive sound.

Inside, the 911 offers a choice between a 2-seat layout and a 2+2 configuration. The car's dashboard now includes a 12.6-inch curved instrument display and an updated 10.9-inch infotainment system. This new system provides easy access to drive modes and music apps and can even stream videos while the car is parked.
