Alongside its operational Future Factory in Pochampalli, Tamil Nadu, the company is setting up a Gigafactory to bolster its production capabilities and pioneer new technologies.Advancing battery technologyAggarwal disclosed that Ola Electric is actively developing advanced battery technologies. Notably, the company aims to manufacture its own battery cells domestically, aiming to enhance affordability for its electric vehicles. They offer enhanced safety features, increased range per charge, reduced vehicle weight, and improved thermal efficiency. Moreover, they facilitate quicker charging times and boast a longer lifespan.Leading innovationWhile global automakers are exploring solid-state batteries, Ola Electric is positioning itself as a frontrunner in this domain. At its Battery Innovation Centre (BIC), the company is actively showcasing its progress in solid-state battery research.Future prospectsAggarwal hinted at Ola Electrics experimental phase with solid-state batteries, aiming for integration into their EV lineup possibly by the end of the decade.
