Maruti Suzuki has launched the 4th generation of its popular Swift hatchback in the Indian market. The Swift has consistently been a favorite among Indian car buyers due to its economical fuel consumption, lively engine, and well-balanced handling. The latest version continues to meet these expectations and has been warmly received by the public, as reflected in its impressive sales numbers.
In April 2024, the Maruti Suzuki Swift emerged as the best-selling car in India, recording sales of 19,393 units. This marks a 12% year-over-year increase for the month. The Swift's strong performance has dethroned the Tata Punch, which previously held the top spot.
The Tata Punch, which sold 18,949 units in April, now ranks second. This figure includes sales from both the new Punch EV and the traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) variant. Despite the Punch’s popularity, the Swift's resurgence highlights the ongoing competition in the hatchback segment.
The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift is available in five variants: LXI, VXO, VXI(O), ZXI, and ZXI+. It features an all-new Z-series engine delivering 82 PS of power and 111.7 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a 5-speed manual transmission (MT) and a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT).
Maruti Suzuki has enhanced the Swift's mid-range torque and improved its fuel efficiency, now offering up to 25.75 kmpl. This makes the Swift not only powerful but also economical, reinforcing its appeal to budget-conscious buyers.
The Swift competes with models like the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Hyundai Exter, Tata Tiago, and Tata Punch. Prices for the new Swift range from ₹6.49 lakh to ₹9.65 lakh (ex-showroom), making it a competitive option in its segment.
