Honda's two-wheeler sales surge by 12 per cent: Activa, Shine lead

New Delhi: Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has reported a significant surge in sales, driven by the soaring demand for its popular mileage motorcycles, Activa and Shine. The company witnessed a remarkable 12 per cent year-on-year growth, with total sales reaching 48,93,522 units during the fiscal year 2023-24. In March 2024 alone, Honda sold 3,86,455 units, marking a substantial contribution to its overall performance.

Breakdown of sales figures

Breaking down the sales figures, domestic sales accounted for 3,58,151 units, reflecting an impressive 81% growth compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, exports witnessed a staggering 95% increase, totaling 28,304 units. This robust performance underscores Honda's strong presence in both domestic and international markets.

Introduction of new models

Honda's success can be attributed to its strategic introduction of customer-centric products, including the SP160 and Dio 125. The SP160, a sporty commuter bike, has been well-received by consumers, offering a perfect blend of performance and affordability. Similarly, the Dio 125, positioned as a stylish and efficient scooter, has garnered considerable attention in the 125cc segment.

Special variants and BS6 compliance

In addition to its core offerings, Honda has introduced special variants such as the Activa Limited variant, SP125 sports variant, and Repsol variants of Hornet 2.0 and Dio 125, catering to diverse consumer preferences. Moreover, the brand has ensured compliance with BS6 Stage 2 emission norms, reaffirming its commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.

Premium segment expansion

Honda has further strengthened its presence in the premium segment through its Bigwing dealerships, offering a range of high-performance motorcycles. Notable additions include flagship models like the Gold Wing Tour, XL750 Translap, and NX500, catering to discerning riders seeking superior quality and performance.

Extended warranty programs

Setting new industry standards, Honda has introduced the 'Extended Warranty Plus (EW Plus)' program, providing customers with a comprehensive warranty coverage of 3 years standard plus 7 years optional extended warranty on all scooters and motorcycle models up to 250cc segment. Additionally, the company offers 'Extended Warranty' and 'Extended Warranty Plus' programs tailored to BigWing customers, ensuring peace of mind and customer satisfaction.
