Ampere has introduced its latest electric scooter model in India, known as the Ampere Nexus. Positioned as the brand's most premium offering to date, this scooter marks the transition from concept to production, stemming from the NXG concept unveiled at Auto Expo 2023. While it maintains the essence of the original concept, the Nexus exhibits significant design alterations. Developed entirely in-house at the company's facility in Tamil Nadu, the scooter promises a blend of innovation and performance for Indian consumers.

Ampere Nexus Electric Scooter: Pricing and Variants

Available in four striking colors - Zanskar Aqua, Lunar White, Steel Grey, and Indian Red, the Ampere Nexus comes in two variants: EX and ST. The base EX variant, featuring an LCD display, is priced at Rs. 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom), while the ST variant, equipped with a TFT display, carries a price tag of Rs. 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom). Although currently offered at introductory rates, the company anticipates a price revision soon. Bookings for the scooter have commenced, with deliveries scheduled to commence by the end of May.

Technical Specifications

Powering the Ampere Nexus is a 3kWh LFP battery, delivering a certified range of 136km. The scooter derives its power from a mid-mounted motor capable of generating a peak output of 4kWh, with a claimed top speed of 93kph. Charging the battery reportedly takes around 3.5 hours, although it remains unspecified whether this duration pertains to a full recharge from 0 to 100 percent. Notably, when the battery level dips below 20 percent SOC, the scooter automatically switches to a 'Limp home' mode for safety.

Features and Functionality

The Ampere Nexus boasts a sophisticated feature set, including a choice between a 6.2-inch LCD or a large 7-inch color touchscreen display, both controllable via unique switchgear mounted on the handlebar. Additionally, the scooter offers Bluetooth connectivity and full LED lighting. Riders can access five distinct riding modes, complemented by a hill-hold function for enhanced control. Suspension duties are managed by a telescopic front fork and dual rear shock absorbers, ensuring a comfortable ride over varied terrains. Braking is facilitated by a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear, while the scooter rolls on 12-inch wheels fitted with 90/90 section tires on both ends. Ampere claims a distinctive hybrid swingarm design, seamlessly integrating the motor drivetrain for optimized performance and stability.
