Ants are described as Lord Shri Hari’s favourite creatures in the Padma Purana, and it is said that by giving flour to ants, one might achieve redemption by successfully letting go of all negative emotions and unlucky ties. Thus, people put flour where there are ants, as a means to offer food symbolically to the deity. Ants are ritually fed not on flour, but also jaggery ans sugar.

Furthermore, black ants are considered to represent Shani Dev. By giving flour to the black ants on Saturday, one can alleviate Shani Dosha and win Shani Dev’s favour. On Saturday, giving them rice flour with sugar or jaggery should relieve the offerer of the negative effects of Saturn.

It is said that if one mixes sugar with rice flour and feeds the ants, their bad luck vanishes and they get rid of their debt. A person should sprinkle flour for ants every day if there is any sign of grave danger.

If someone’s home has daily strife and arguments as a result of negative energy, they should grate dry coconut and feed it to ants by combining sugar with the powder.

If a person is unable to find work despite making numerous attempts, he should rub almonds and feed the powder to the ants. Their chances of getting a job increase. While giving flour or any food item to ants, be vigilant that they do not get trampled under one’s feet. Due to this, the outcome of feeding flour becomes inconsequential.

Always remember that black ants are considered lucky, while red ants lack that signification. When black ants are spotted inside a home, it is auspicious and if red ants are seen in the house, then it is seen as a sign of loss of money.
