After taking incarnation in the form of Siddhidatri, Goddess Parvati started living inside the Sun so that it can liberate energy to the universe. Since then, this form of Goddess is known as Kushmanda. Kushmanda is the Goddess who has the power and capability to live inside the Sun. The glow and radiance of Devi Kushmanda is as luminous as that of the Sun.

This form of Goddess Durga is worshipped on the fourth day of Navratri. According to mythology, since Goddess Kushmanda provides direction and energy to the Sun. Hence, God Sun is governed by Goddess Kushmanda. She is also believed to improve health, wealth and strength.

Due to her eight hands, the goddess Kushmanda is also known as Ashtabhuja Devi. Her Jap Mala is thought to contain all of the ability to confer Siddhis and Niddhis.

According to scriptures, it is believed that she only needed to smile a tiny bit to create the entire cosmos, known as Brahmanda in Sanskrit. She also enjoys Kushmanda, a type of white pumpkin from Bali. She is commonly referred to as Goddess Kushmanda because of her connections to Brahmanda and Kushmanda.

Mantra: Om Devi Kushmandayai Namah॥ (ॐ देवी कूष्माण्डायै नमः॥)
