The Moon will shine at its highest as August wraps up. The ‘blue supermoon’ will grace the sky on August 30, which will be a treat for all the night gazers. According to the experts, the phenomena happen only once in a decade, however, as the name suggest blue, a blue moon is not actually in colour. The terms signify a second blue Moon in a single month.

Rakhi or Raksha Bandhan, the Hindu festival celebrating the bonds between siblings will also be celebrated on the upcoming full Moon or Poornima set to appear on Wednesday. according to the American space agency, the rarest moon will shine at its peak for three days, from Tuesday till Thursday.

It is to be noted here that first full moon for this month rose on August 1 and was the second of four consecutive supermoons. And, according to experts, supermoons are about 16% brighter than an average moon. They also appear bigger than the average full moon. According to NASA, the phenomenon occurs when the moon’s orbit is closest to Earth at the same time the moon is full.

Notably, the upcoming supermoon will appear much bigger as compared to the last supermoon.

Blue Supermoon is not only a gorgeous spectacle, but it also has astrological significance. This event, according to astrology, is said to heighten consciousness and intuition, making it a potent moment for setting intentions and letting go of bad energy.

Despite its name, the Blue Supermoon won’t truly seem blue unless certain meteorological circumstances are satisfied, including a significant volcanic eruption or a large cloud of airborne smoke. Such occurrences are incredibly uncommon, probably only happening half a dozen times every century.
