Raksha Bandha, a festival that celebrates the bond between brother and sister falls on full moon day of Shravan, according to Hindu panchang. In some parts of the country the festival is commonly known as Rakhi, when sisters tie colourful thread of wrist of their brother and in return, they promise to protect her.

This year, there is a lot of confusion among people about the date of Raksha Bandhan celebration, August 30 or 31? And what will be the shubh mahurat.

Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on August 30, Wednesday. The shubh muhurat to tie Rakhi and perform the Raksha Bandhan ritual will begin after 9:01 pm after Bhadra end time.

Muhurat available after Pradosh only when Bhadra ends. According to Hindu panchang, the best time to tie Rakhi is late afternoon, in Aparahna time. If this time is not available, Pradosh time is also suitable to perform rituals of Raksha Bandhan. However, the rituals should not be performed during the Bhadra kaal.

There are many beliefs that are followed by people. But it should be noted that all auspicious works should be avoided during Bhadra. To avoid any confusion, it is always advised to check Hindu panchang.
