Festival that celebrates the bond of brother and sister will be witnessed with great enthusiasm everywhere. This year, the festival is falling on full moon or Purnima, which is on August 30 and 31.
Although the excitement grows as soon as the time approaches, but this year, people are in a lot of confusion about the correct date and timings. The confusion arises around the auspicious time on both the dates as according to Hindu Panchang, Bhadra kaal will be falling in between.
Raksha Bandhan is a festival which brothers and sisters wait eagerly throughout the year, and in 2023 it will be celebrated on two days. According to Hindu Panchang, Purnima Tithi will begin on 30 August 2023, at 10:45 AM, while Bhadra will commence at 11:00 AM, just few minutes later. Bhadra ends at 9:03 PM.
Due to Bhadra kaal, the festival will be celebrated for two days, as per mythology, it is not considered auspicious to perform rituals during that period. Hindu Panchang says that Purnima Tithi will end on 31 August 2023, at 7:05 AM and Surya Uday Purnima is considered auspicious and people can celebrate Raksha Bandhan on that day.
So, Raksha Bandhan can be celebrated on these two dates. People can celebrate the festival either on August 30, after 9:01 PM or the next morning, on August 31, before 7:05 AM, which is considered auspicious.
