The birth anniversary of Lord Shri Krishna’s beloved Radha Rani will be celebrated on the Ashtami of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month, according to Drik Panchang. As per mythological scriptures, it is said that 15 days after the birth anniversary of Lord Shri Krishna, his beloved Shri Radha Rani was born, that is why Radha Ashtami is celebrated on this day.

Significance of Radha Ashtami

According to the astrologers and pandits, worshipping Lord Shri Krishna is considered incomplete without Radha, that is why the devotees who observe fast on Shri Krishna Janmashtami, also observes fast on Shri Radha Ashtami. It is said in the scriptures that by worshiping Shri Radha Krishna as per the rituals and observing fast on Shri Krishna Janmashtami and Radha Ashtami, all the wishes are fulfilled.

When Radha Ashtami is falling in 2023?

Shri Radha Ashtami is celebrated on Shukla Paksha Ashtami of Bhadrapada month, exactly fifteen days after Shri Krishna Janmashtami. This year Radha Ashtami will be celebrated on September 23. Shubha Mahurat (auspicious time) for Radha Ashtami will start from 11:01 PM till 01:26 PM.

Devotees can please Lord Krishna by praying Shri Radha Rani, his beloved on this day, which will bring happiness and prosperity in the house and desired wishes can be fulfilled.

Radha Ashtami: Date & Time

According to Drik Panchang, the Ashtami Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month will start from September 22, 2023 at 01:35 PM and will end the next day on September 23 at 12:17 PM.

Radha Ashtami will be celebrated on September 23, the auspicious time of worship of Shri Radha ji will start from 11:01 AM in the morning till 1:26 PM.

Four things that devotees can keep in mind while observing fast Radha Ashtami:

  • One should wake up early in the morning during Brahma Muhurta, take bath and wear clean clothes.
  • Give bath to Lord Krishna and Shri Radha with Panchamrit, and dress them up with beautiful clothes and make up.
  • The idol of Shri Radha should be placed by spreading a yellow or red cloth at a clean place.
  • Fruits and flowers can be offered to Shri Radhe Krishna with reverence, after this Aarti of Shri Radhe Krishna should be recited.
