Paush Amavasya: Do special measures for the peace of your ancestors

In Hindu religion, each Amavasya Tithi has its own special significance. The Amavasya Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Paush month is called Paush Amavasya. This is the first Amavasya of the year 2024. From astrological point of view, some measures can be taken that will prove to be very fruitful.

It is believed that if you fast on Paush Amavasya, you can appease the ancestors and seek their blessings.

Taking bathe in holy river and doing charity have special significance on this day. According to the Puranas, one should take bath in the Ganga on this day.

Here are some measures that can be taken on Paush Amavasya: 

According to the Hindu calendar, Paush month is the tenth month which is considered important for worshiping the deities and performing rituals for the dead ancestors.

In Sanatan Dharma, Lord Vishnu is worshiped by taking a bath in the Ganga on the date of Paush Amavasya. Besides this, offerings to ancestors are also made. Bathing, charity, tarpan etc. have special significance on this day.

 It is implied in Garuda Purana that by offering Tarpan and Pind Daan to ancestors on Amavasya Tithi, ancestors attain salvation.

There is a religious belief that by taking bath, meditating and worshiping Lord Vishnu with a pure mind on Amavasya Tithi, the seeker gets inexhaustible results. At the same time, the seeker receives blessings from the ancestors. The blessings of the ancestors increase the happiness of the seeker. Donating on this auspicious day gives many times more results.

On this day, every wish made with a true heart is fulfilled. In such a situation, by taking some special measures on this day, one gets virtuous results.

By observing fast and worshiping on Paush Amavasya, one gets manifold virtuous results and also there is happiness and prosperity in the house.

On this day, worshipping Lord Shiva is beneficial in Pitradosh and Kaalsarp Dosh.

By donating clothes and food on the special day of Paush Amavasya or by donating food and clothes, the ill effects of planets Ketu, Rahu, Saturn and Jupiter can be reduced. People who are troubled by these planets can do charity on the day of Paush Amavasya.
