According to Hindu mythology, every month has a specific religious significance, the same is with the month of October. Since numerous Hindu festivals and fasts take place during this month. As per Drik Panchang, it is also known as Ashwin month, which ends in Kartik month.

In Hindu mythology and astrology, Ashwin is the seventh month of the Hindu calendar, which will begin on September 30, 2023 and will end on 28 October 2023, this year. Soon after the end of Ashwin month, the holy month of Kartik will begin, which will last from October 29 to November 27, 2023.

Significance of Ashwin month:

As we are now aware of the Ashwin month dates, let’s know more about the month that will be filled with all the major festivals. It is believed that each and every day of Ashwin month is significant in Sanatan Dhan because numerous major festivals are held with excitement and pomp during this month. Not only festivities, this month will also give you the chance of seek the blessings of your ancestors as Pitra Paksha is going to start on September 29, 2023.

Soon after, Pitra Paksha or Shradh Paksha, Shardiya Navratri would commence. Maa Durga is worshipped during these nine days and it is believed that Goddess visits the homes of her devotees to alleviate their afflictions for nine days.

In addition to this, devotees will also observe Ashtami, Mahanavami and Dussehra. Some people also keep fast during Navratri to appease Maa Durga to seek her blessings. During this period, the autumn begins to spread.

Kartik month after Ashwin

Soon after the full moon or Purnima of Ashwin month, the holy month of Kartik will commence, which is also known as Sharad Purnima. Kartik month is believed to be one of the best months of the year since it is highly special to Lord Vishnu. The time of this time is considered to be very auspicious to pray Shri Hari Vishnu and Tulsi Puja.

According to mythology, the month of Kartik is one of the four months of Chaturmas in Hindus, in which Lord Vishnu awakens from his four-month sleep on the day of Devotthan Ekadashi. Devotees also celebrate Kartik month organising Shaligram and Tulsi Vivah. As this month has special significance, people also donate candles, take bath in Ganges, perform Yagya, and other religious ceremonies, as they are believed to have special effects in one’s life.
