Mokshada Ekadashi, also known as the Ekadashi date of Shukla Paksha in the month of Margashirsha, occurs annually. Worshipping Lord Narayana holds great significance and affection for this day. When is Mokshada Ekadashi, December 22 or 23?

This time, there is a lot of confusion among the people regarding Ekadashi falling in the month of Margashirsha that when will its fast be observed i.e. December 22 or 23. 

According to the Hindu Panchang, the Shukla Paksha Ekadashi in the Margashirsha month will be observed on Friday, December 22, 2023 from 08:16 AM on Friday. It is occasionally advised to fast for two days in a row on Ekadashi. But, according to scriptures, it is recommended that Smartha and her family observe fasting just on the first day. The second alternate Ekadashi fasting is recommended for Sanyasis, widows, and those seeking Moksha. Vaishnava Ekadashi fasting day falls on the same day that alternate Ekadashi fasting is recommended for Smartha.

Importance of Mokshada Ekadashi

According to the scriptures, people who worship Lord Vishnu observe a fast on this day with full faith and devotion. All their sins are destroyed. It is believed that by worshiping Lord Hari on this day, ancestors attain salvation. Along with this, this date opens the door to salvation for those observing fast. By observing fast on Ekadashi, all the troubles of life are eradicated and ultimately one attains the Vaikuntha Dham. Along with this, those who observe the fast with devotion receive the blessings of happiness and prosperity throughout their life.
