The Lunar Eclipse on October 28-29, 2023 will be visible in several regions of India, including New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, and Varanasi. Meanwhile, Photographers can take advantage of this cosmic occurrence to capture the stunning moon eclipse.

On Sunday, October 29, the lunar eclipse will begin at 1:05 AM and end at 2:24 AM. At around 1:05 AM IST on Sunday, the darker part of Earth's shadow or umbra will cover the lunar phase. 

According to the experts, consumers can use their smartphones to snap images of the stunning lunar eclipse, while experts use expensive cameras and telescopes to capture the best eclipse views.

Here are some tips that can be kept in mind while making them memories:

  • Plan everything in advance. If you seriously want to increase your odds of making a truly memorable photo, look for a good shooting location during daylight hours.
  • Know the exact location of the Moon. One should be aware, when and where to look for the Moon on the given day, and its current phase. There are several apps that can help. 
  • Prep to stabilise your phone: If you don’t have a tripod, be ready with some prop to keep your phone steady.
  • Turn off the flash and, using a touch screen, aim your camera to concentrate on the moon rather than the sky.
  • Reduce the brightness to avoid a blown-out, hazy, white image.
  • If your phone has a photo timer, use it to assist you take pictures without touching or shaking the device.
  • Zoom could be useful or not, depending on your phone.
  • While some phones feature an actual optical zoom, others only have a digital zoom that may be used for cropping photos, which you can do yourself after you snap them.
  • Try to change settings such as ISO (sensitivity to light) and aperture (the size of the opening that lets in light), if your phone allows. 
  • People can also play with shutter speed to ensure that the Moon is captured correctly.
