Everybody loves food and do you know it is directly connected to celestial bodies also. According to the vedic astrology, one should eat the food thoughtfully, in order to get the blessings of the ruling planets in birth chart.

Let’s take a glance on how we can inherit the food habits that may be beneficial for us.

Sun: As the name suggests, Sun represents fire. The favourable colour of plant Sun is red. The food that can be offered for the blessings of Sun are jaggery, pulses that are red in colour, saffron, chandan, wheat, red fruits.

Moon: Moon, same as its colour favours the white colour. Rice, milk, curd, ghee, salt, white sweets, sugar, cashew nuts and radish can be offered.

Mars: Lord hanuman symbolises planet mangal (Mars). Foods that can be offered include red masoor gram, jaggery, pomegranates and other red foods.

Mercury: Mercury is also known as Lord Budh who likes green colour and so his preferred food items include green moong gram, bottle gourd, green vegetables, and green fruits.

Jupiter: Jupiter is connected with Lord Brihaspati. It is auspicious to offer him yellow items like yellow sweets, chana gram, jaggery and yellow fruits.

Venus: Friday is considered to be day of Lord Venus or Shukracharya. White-coloured items like rice, sugar, semolina and white fruits can be offered to please him.

Saturn: Lord Shani owns Saturday loves all things that are black in colour, like black urad, mustard oil, gur, black sesame, black flowers, black fruits, black sweetmeats, black chana etc.

Rahu-Ketu: these are basically ascending and descending Lunar nodes. In Vedic astrology, these are also known as shadow planets, means they follow wherever one goes, the other follows him. They are not considered as planet but are often known as shadow planets. They are also get counted in the Navgrahas. The food that may be offered to them are black urad gram, black sesame seeds and black sweets (e.g. Gulab Jamun).
