Karwa Chauth, which falls on Chaturthi Tithi of Kartik Maas will be observed on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. On this day, married women observe a fast for the long life of their husbands. This fast is observed from sunrise to moonrise. According to Panchang, this time on Karwa Chauth, moonrise will happen at 08:15 PM.

1. Do not consume food and water

Women keeping fast should not even drink water on Karwa Chauth. Observe fast by eating sargi before sunrise and abstain from food and water for the whole day. Do not consume food or water even by mistake on this day, otherwise your fast will be broken.

2. Do not donate Suhaag material

Karwa Chauth fast is observed for unbroken good fortune and happy married life, hence do not donate wedding related items like vermillion, bindi, bangle, Mahavar, Mehendi etc. used by yourself on that day to anyone.

3. Do not perform Parana without Chandra Arghya

During Karwa Chauth fast, the moon is seen through a sieve at the time of moonrise and Arghya is offered to the moon. After that, the fast is broken by taking water from the husband's hands. On that day, do not pass Parana without worshiping the Moon and offering Arghya. If due to some reason the moon is not visible in your city, then perform astrological measures and offer puja and Arghya.

4. Do not sleep during the day

Women observing Karwa Chauth fast should not sleep during the day. Sleeping after fasting does not yield the results of the fast. This rule applies to all fasts including Karwa Chauth. However, those who have health related problems are exempted.

5. Don't wear black clothes

Karwa Chauth is a symbol of uninterrupted marriage and happy marriage. So, it is believed that one should not wear black coloured clothes on that day. Black colour is considered as a symbol of negativity. On that day you can wear red, pink, yellow, green coloured clothes. Red and pink are considered more auspicious.

6. Avoid using sharp objects

On the day of Karva Chauth, women should not touch sharp objects like needles, knives etc. Cuts and injuries on the day of Karva Chauth are considered inauspicious.

7. Karwa Chauth fasting story

The worship of Karwa Chauth is incomplete without its fast. When you worship Goddess Gauri in the evening, do not forget to listen to the fast story of Karwa Chauth. By listening to the story, the fast will be completed and its importance will also be known.

8. Don't forget to give (baayna) puja and suhaag material to your mother-in-law
