The first supermoon of this year, the only treat for the sky gazers to enjoy the brightest lunar display of 2023. The supermoon on Monday is going to appear to be brighter and 7% larger than normal moon appearances in the night sky.

According to the experts, the first full moon of summer will be more luminous and 224,895.4 miles (361,934 kilometres) from Earth.

Notably, this is going to be the first of four supermoons that will rise in 2023. But among all the lunar displays that will occur in 2023, this one will appear to be more luminous in the night sky than any other full moon. As per sources, the full moon will be at its peak at 5:08 pm in Delhi, India.

Time of Full moon in India

Full moon this time will continue to mesmerise gazers with its luminosity a day before and after the full moon. However, it will be difficult for the gazers to witness it for a long time, as the event will last only for minutes. In India, the moon will illuminate at its fullest at 5:08 pm in Delhi, India on Monday.

How does Full moon occur?

When the Sun and Moon are lined up on opposing sides of the Earth, a full moon occurs. As a result, the Sun lights up the whole surface of the Moon. Because the Moon’s orbit around Earth is inclined at an inclination of around 5 degrees with respect to the Earth’s orbital plane, the ecliptic, it is impossible to see the Full Moon from Earth. The Full Moon only lasts for a few minutes since the Moon and Earth are constantly moving.

Apart from the Supermoon, the sky lovers will be able to witness may other events in the sky, this month. Taking it to Twitter, NASA mentioned, “A full moon starts the month, Jupiter and Saturn will be early birds and night owls, and while Venus and Mars go low in the west, Saturn will go high in the southern sky. The Red Planet will also cozy up with the star.”
