Two Ekadashi fasts named Jaya and Vijaya come in February. Apart from this, the biggest festival of February is Maha Shivratri. A special day for Mahadev, the God of Gods. It is said that the Shiva-Parvati marriage took place on the day of Maha Shivratri, and on this day, Lord Shiva appeared in the form of 12 Jyotirlingas. Temples are decorated across the country on this day. People anoint the Shivling with milk, curd, honey, etc.; datura, bhang, ber, and fruits are offered to Shiva. On this day, many devotees observe fasts wholeheartedly. It is said that fasting on this day brings unbroken good fortune. Unmarried girls also fast on this day in search of a suitable groom.
Holashtak also starts in the month of February. Holi is in March, and Holasht takes place eight days before Holi. This means Manglik and auspicious works stop for eight days before Holi. During this time marriage, marriage, shaving, etc., do not happen. Somvati Amavasya falls in February, on which Ganga bath and charity are important.
