Hariyali Teej is the festival observed by the married women in most parts of the country during the Sawan month, according to the Hindu Panchang. The festival is commonly celebrated in parts of Rajasthan, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Haryana.The festival is also known by the name of Choti Teej, while the Kajari Teej is the Badi Teej, and the third teej is the Hartalika Teej. This year, Hariyali Teej will be celebrated on August 19.The occasion is considered to be very auspicious as it falls in the month of Sawan which is devoted to worship Lord Shiva, also called one of the holiest months in Hindus.On the occasion women worship the union of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva to attain a blissful married life. However, on many cultures, bride-to-be also take part in this holy ceremony. People often call it Sindhara Teej also, where mother-in-law gives a basket full of gifts to her daughter-in-law, which may include green saree (clothes), green bangles, heena and sweets as it is associated with Sawan and greenery. Women also prepare swings to celebrate Sawan.Date & TimePeople generally get confused between Hariyali Teej and Hartalika Teej. According to Hindu Panchang, Hariyali Teej falls on August 19 this year. The Tritiya Tithi will begin on August 18 at 8:00 PM and finish on August 19 at 10:19 PM.On the other hand, the morning muhurat for Hartalika Teej, will last from 6:07 am until 8:34 am on September 18. The Tritiya Tithi will start on August 17 at 11:08 PM and finish on September 18 at 12:39 PM.
