Ganesh Chaturthi which is also known as Vinayak Chaturthi or Ganeshotsav approaches in the month of August or September every year. According to Drik Panchang or Hindu calendar, the festival falls in Bharapada month.
As the festival approaches, some people are unsure about the date to welcome Lord Ganesha. The 10-day long festival will be celebrated on September 19, this year. People bring Lord Ganesh into their homes and celebrate his birthday with fervor all across the nation for 10 days as a revered guest. According to mythology, Lord Ganesha took birth in Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month’s Chaturthi.
Although people were confused between September 18 and 19, according to Hindu Panchang, Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. Devotees can bring the clay idol of Lord Ganesha home for 1.5 days, 3 days, 7 days or 10 days. The auspicious time to welcome Lord Ganesha home on Chaturthi Tithi will begin at 12:39 PM on September 18, 2023, and end at 01:43 PM on September 19, 2023.
Ganesh Visarjan will mark the conclusion of the 10-day festival, which is September 28, this year.
Ganesh Chaturthi is a Hindu festival that honors Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed God known as the remover of obstacles and the God of beginnings and wisdom. Religiously, Modaks, sweet made with rice flour having sweet coconut filling are being offered to Lord Ganesha. Modak and laddoo are his favourite sweet.
The tenth and the final day of the festival will conclude with the visarjan of the idol of Lord Ganesha which is taken out with a grand procession and immersing in the nearby water body. The day is commonly known as Anant Chaturdashi and is falling on September 28. Throughout 10 days, many cultural programmes and performances are organised at a very large scale at pandals. People chant mantras, perform aarti and other rituals.
